It helps to include your macOS version, the SnapSteps version (SnapSteps menu > About SnapSteps) and, if something went wrong, the steps that led to it. Since SnapSteps has no network access, no report is ever sent automatically - we only know what you tell us.

Common questions

Capture does not work / the screenshot is black

SnapSteps needs the macOS Screen Recording permission to take a screenshot. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording, enable SnapSteps, then relaunch the app. The screen is read only at the moment you press the capture shortcut.

I bought Pro on another Mac

The Pro unlock is tied to your Apple Account. On the new Mac, open SnapSteps and use Restore Purchases - Apple restores the one-time purchase for free.

Where are my manuals stored?

Wherever you save them - each manual is an ordinary file bundle in a documented open format (.snapsteps) on your own disk. Back them up like any other document; they remain readable without the app.

Which export formats are available?

PDF (with cover page, table of contents, logo, accent color, A4 or Letter), Word (.docx), Markdown with an images folder, single-file HTML, and JSON. JSON export is always free; the other formats carry a small footer line on the free tier after your first export - Pro removes it.
