SnapSteps for macOS

Privacy policy

Effective September 1, 2026

SnapSteps collects no data. Not analytics, not crash reports, not identifiers, not usage statistics - nothing. There is no account to create and no server to talk to.

No network access, by construction

The app is sandboxed and ships without the network entitlement (com.apple.security.network.client is absent from the binary). macOS therefore prevents SnapSteps from opening any network connection. This is not a policy promise that could be broken by a bug or a future update reviewed carelessly - transmitting data is technically impossible for the app as shipped.

Your content stays on your Mac

Screenshots, step text and manual titles live in files you choose on your own disk, in a documented open format. They are never uploaded, synced or logged. The sensitive-text scan that suggests redactions runs on Apple's Vision framework, entirely on device.

Screen Recording permission

SnapSteps asks for the macOS Screen Recording permission only so it can take the screenshot you explicitly request with the capture shortcut. The screen is read at that moment and never on a timer or in the background. The captured image goes into your own document and nowhere else. You can revoke the permission at any time in System Settings.

Purchases

The optional SnapSteps Pro unlock is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. SnapSteps never sees or stores any payment data. Apple's own privacy policy governs the transaction.

Third parties and tracking

There are no third-party SDKs, no ad networks, no tracking of any kind. Under Apple's App Privacy questionnaire, every category is answered "Data Not Collected".
